Not since 1941 when Winston Churchill visited the United States has a foreign leader presented in front of a joint house of the US Congress. It was a historical and powerful moment as President Zelenskyy talked of the courage of the Ukrainians and thanked all Americans for their support so that they can defend their country and symbolically defend Democracy around the world. Zelenskyy was a true example of empathic and powerful leadership, understanding the significance of the moment and the importance of the relationship with America and all that it represents. We can all take this moment and think about how we defend what really matters to all of us, freedom, and the right to live as we each see fit within the context of our own journey. It matters now and always will and we need not take these freedoms for granted. The Zelenskyy visit was a good reminder of just that.
