Wait till they stop

We do spend a lot of our time with others, in a group, one-on-one, as part of a team, and sometimes as an observer. And while we know how we are supposed to interact with others, we can get so excited about what is going on that we want to jump into a conversation that is going on, regardless of what is happening at the moment.  That is, we interrupt, talk over, and take control.  Deep down, we know we shouldn’t do this, but we really do have to remind ourselves, in a very active way, to wait till others stop talking before we jump in with our point of view.  We like it when we are listened to, we should give the same courtesy to others.  Waiting to talk just makes for an overall better conversation and we will find that over time, we all do better as a result.  So, here’s to listening and then talking and appreciating how well it can work.
