Canada Day

I feel it only right that I add to the THPL category of Learning,  by reminding you all that today, July 1, is Canada Day.  While I do not celebrate the holiday in a formal way (by taking the day off), since my last name is French and my great Grandfather was from Quebec I though it only appropriate to pay homage to the day and to share this moment with such a high performing group.  Canada, with its population of 30 million, is one tenth that of the US, and it as our strongest ally it is very good to keep good relations with our friends up north and what better way to do that than to celebrate their national birthday (I am sure they will do the same on Thursday on our national birthday).

And so in the category of learning here are the facts: Canada Day is the national day of Canada, a federal holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed.

Loving life and Canada all in the same day

Ciao
