There is an element to THPL that makes us want to keep track of our performance regularly and to use it as a motivator for improvement. And one of the best ways to get motivated is to have the data readily available and to make it comparative. This week Garmin made an announcement to partner with Strava (the cycling and running partner for athletes) to be able to show real time comparative information by all elements of what Strava tracks and to make it available in real time. Essentially the technology allows users to immediately visualize their performance against their own peers and to bench mark against themselves. This kind of opportunity is not only good for performance it is good for community and keeping interest in riding or running. So if you are so inclined check it out – it could be quite fun and maybe you might even find yourself getting a KOM medal (king of the mountain)
