There are many an instance along the THPL journey when we hear the statement “stay within your comfort zone”. This is a state, in which we feel at ease and in control with low anxiety and low stress. In this state steady performance is possible and expected. But if we are to improve our performance or take on new challenges we need to step out of our comfort zone. When we do (step out) our stress level increases and most likely even our anxiety. The goodness of this is that it results in an enhanced level of concentration and focus. This allows us to improve our performance and to take it to the next level. We cannot move forward without some form of discomfort – by definition that is what progress is and feels like - so maybe, what we should be doing is to think about how often should we find ourselves out of our Comfort Zone – and when we find ourselves there what do we do? The more we get used to this idea the higher the probability that we can make it work and then, maybe, venturing out of our comfort zone might just not be so scary!
Loving life, when living outside my comfort zone
