There is an ebb and flow that is what living during the time of a pandemic is like. There are days when we are convinced all will be well and then we slip back to the reality that the virus is with us as strong as it was from the first day. And during times like this when the world seems complex, unwieldy, unpredictable, we turn to that which we can control, to things within our reach. We see an inclination to bake, to garden, to walk, to hike, to exercise, to play board games and so much more. It is sort of instinctual, we tend towards activities that give us a sense of accomplishment, a feeling of mastery, and an opportunity to ignore the craziness that is around us. It is important to acknowledge the magnitude of the impact of the pandemic and at the same time, it is good for our souls, for our health, for our community, to do the simple things in life, to do them together and to stay focused on what we can control. One day the pandemic will recede till then let’s make our lives the best we can and there is much that we can do to make that our current reality.
Loving life when I have a sense of control
